Designer Bio:
I like to think that I’ve come a long way as a designer during my time here at Syracuse University, particularly in the way of philosophy and my view of design. Through my thesis project, I tried to reflect these ideologies by maintaining a critical and conscious stance towards my design choices. The power held by designers comes from our philosophies and how they are carried out in our work, and I would encourage others to define their own so you can stay true to what you believe.
Project Description:
Shared roadway situations (cars and bikes on the same road) are extremely dangerous. With the main issue being a lack of effective communication, my thesis aims to address this by creating a two-way communication system for both bikes and cars.
Utilizing probability algorithms, my solution would be able to make educated guesses at possible hazards approaching at an upcoming intersection.
Through a series of easy to read symbols, the device is able to provide a brief warning to the user of a possible traffic interaction.
By providing this information ahead of time, the interactions occurring at intersections have the potential to be much safer for all involved.
