Reimagined

By Emilia Thein

Initiative to Implement Sustainable Design Thinking into Elementary and Middle School Curriculums

Designer Bio:

My name is Emilia Thein, and I am currently a senior at Syracuse University. Born and raised in the D.C. metropolitan area, I’ve grown a deep appreciation for the countless ways people experience and engage with the world.

Growing up in D.C. has taught me that everyone deserves a seat at the table. As I pursue a B.I.D. in industrial and interactive design, I’m continually inspired by the limitless solutions design offers to the world. As an emerging designer, I plan to focus on innovation, accessibility, inclusivity and empathy.

Project Description:

Reimagined is a project that explores integrating sustainable design thinking into current elementary and middle school educational standards.

Teaching sustainable design thinking at a young age enables students to make eco-friendly choices, build sustainable habits and proactively address environmental changes.

Reimagined can help students comprehend how to contribute to the broader community while delving into topics like design that transcend the traditional classroom.
