Biography

Doug DuBois’ photographs are in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York; SFMOMA in San Francisco; J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles; the Museum of Fine Art in Houston; the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, MacDowell Colony, the National Endowment for the Arts, SITE Santa Fe and the John Gutmann Foundation.

DuBois has exhibited at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin; Museo D’arte Contemporanea (MARCO) in Rome; the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles; and the Aperture Foundation, Higher Pictures and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The Aperture Foundation published DuBois’ two monographs, “My Last Day at Seventeen” (2015) and “All the Days and Nights” (2009). His photographs also appear in exhibition catalogues from the Irish Museum of Modern Art, “Second Sight: The David Kronn Collection” (2014); the J. Paul Getty Museum, “Where We Live: Photographs from the Berman Collection” (2007); the Museum of Modern Art, “The Pleasures and Terrors of Domestic Comfort” (1991); and in magazines, including The New York Times, Time, Details, GQ, Black Book, The Telegraph (London), Photo District News (PDN) and Granta.

DuBois received an M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute and is an associate professor at Syracuse University, where he teaches in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
