Biography

Richard Koons is a professional actor, singer and teacher and has performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe in operas and musicals.

Most recently, he toured the United States playing the role of Squelch in the first national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Love Never Dies” (sequel to “Phantom of the Opera”).

As an educator, Koons has been teaching privately in the New York City area for 20 years, and his students can be seen (and heard) performing all over the world. He has been a guest lecturer and performer at several universities including Iowa State University, Manchester University and Ball State University.

Performance highlights include, but are not limited to, national and international tours of Squelch in “Love Never Dies,” Maestro in “Phantom of the Opera,” Henry Etches in “Titanic the Musical” and Christmas Present in “A Christmas Carol.” New York and regional credits include Kerry in “Valentino,” Jean ValJean in “Les Miserables,” Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof,” Kris Kringle in “Miracle on 34th Street,” Edna in “Hairspray,” Old Deuteronomy in “Cats,” Rev. Mother in “Nunsense A-Men,” Archibald Craven in “Secret Garden,” Horton in “Seussical the Musical,” Cogsworth in “Beauty and the Beast,” Enoch Snow in “Carousel,” and Dwight/God in the American premier of “Jerry Springer the Opera.”
