Biography
Soprano Julianna Sabol has concertized in Canada, the United States and Poland as orchestra soloist, recitalist and on the opera stage. She has been the winner of many prestigious competitions, including that of the National Opera Association, the Jerome Hill Memorial Award in the Metropolitan Opera auditions and the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Auditions, as well as vocal winner in the Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition.
Sabol has appeared many times as a soloist with the Platteville Summer Music Festival under the direction of Bill McGlaughlin of “St. Paul Sunday Morning,” the Bach Aria Festival in Stonybrook, New York, and in chamber music performances with the Syracuse Camerata. On the operatic stage, she has performed with the Syracuse Opera, Minnesota Opera and Dorian Opera Theatre. On the concert stage, she has appeared with the Syracuse Symphony, Auburn Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Dubuque Symphony, Toledo Symphony and Windsor Symphony.
In addition to her performing credits, Sabol has had her research on the singer’s voice published and is a certified pedagogue in contemporary commercial vocal music. She has been on the artist faculty of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and the University of Wisconsin. She holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Bowling Green State University. She has a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She has studied with such artist-teachers as Patricia Berlin, Gary Kendall, Lucy Shelton, Jeannette Lovetri, Yi-Kwei-Sze and Wesley Balk.
