Biography

Hanni Schwarzlander has worked as a professional dancer, director, choreographer and teacher for over 25 years in the U.S. and Europe. She is an alumna of Syracuse University and Oberlin College and is a certified Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® Mentor.

As a performer, she spent several years dancing in Paris and throughout Europe in revues, on cruises and for national television. In the U.S., she toured nationally with the Will Rogers Follies and performed in both dance companies and regional theaters in the Northeast.

She has done extensive work in arts in education programs in the region, working as a teaching artist for the Central New York Aesthetic Education Institute, teaching students in numerous schools and training teachers to integrate creative arts into their curriculum.

As a dance educator, she has taught master classes internationally, at Syracuse University for both the Department of Drama and the Department of Exercise Science, at the Ballet and Dance Center, the Dance Theater of Syracuse, and the Onondaga Dance Institute.

A former faculty member of Manlius Pebble Hill School, she spent years helping grow the performing arts program under Baxter Ball, headmaster. Through her teaching, directing and choreographing, the dance and musical theater programs expanded and flourished, providing the springboard for numerous students to launch into successful careers in both fields. Passionate about her work, she creates environments and provides opportunities where individuals are empowered through creative expression while simultaneously challenging themselves as they learn technique, discipline and safe practices. Schwarzlander currently teaches the Community Actors Workshop/All Star C.A.S.T. class, Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® and jazz. She also holds local dance classes for the Parkinson’s community.
