Biography

Marianne Solivan is a vocalist who has a commanding stage presence.

She has performed and recorded with Christian McBride, Peter Bernstein, Jeremy Pelt, Bruce Barth, Gregory Hutchinson, Jonathan Blake, Xavier Davis, Michael Kanan, Steve Wilson, Gene Bertoncini, Lewis Nash and many other artists. She has recently appeared at iconic jazz locations such as Smoke Supper Club, Smalls Jazz Club, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Birdland and The Blue Note.

In 2012, Solivan recorded a series of duos, trios and quartet pieces that became her first CD, “Prisoner of Love,” on HiPNOTIC Records. In 2014, she went into the studio with her working band, which includes pianist Xavier Davis, bassist Matthew Parrish and drummer Gregory Hutchinson, and recorded “SPARK.” Currently working with her own big band, she collaborates with the jazz community’s best arrangers to expand her repertoire with a number of arrangements based on her own originals as well as standards from the great American songbook. So far, the result has been a highly energized and swinging band that will take you from traditional swing feel to salsa and the modern jazz idiom, all anchored by Solivan’s convincing vocal performances and her confident musical leadership.

An exceptional vocalist and band leader with broad performance experience, Solivan is a dedicated music educator who brings her wide range of talents to jazz and commercial music students in the Setnor School of Music.
