Biography

RJ Sturgess is a mixed-media sculptor living and working in Syracuse, New York, who makes work about the discomfort and awkwardness inherent to the human condition.

His sculptural work combines biomorphic ceramic forms with elements of domestic space, exploring themes of discomfort, imperfection and human vulnerability. He has exhibited his work across the country in venues such as The Crocker Museum of Art in Sacramento, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta and the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts in San Angelo, Texas.
