Biography

Chris Wildrick is a conceptual, performance and systems-based artist, which at the moment means he makes charts about dinosaurs and dresses up like comic book characters.

His current academic research focuses on the strengths of cosplay and other parts of geek culture as generous, innovative, grassroots creative activities that have an emphasis on strong craft and rhetorical skills while remaining accessible to everyone. He has shown, performed and talked about his work all over the world, from New York to Chile to Estonia to New Zealand. He has presented his work on dinosaur aesthetics at venues such as Chicago’s Field Museum and Ithaca’s Museum of the Earth.

Wildrick is a world-class debater and wiki-writer about comics, a novice light saber duelist, and a moderately good destroyer of tiny plastic space ships. He won a Marvel No-Prize for his overly-convoluted theories about the Molecule Man, and he spent several years as a semi-professional comics organizer.
