Minor Troubles book cover

Faculty Research

Erin J. Rand, associate professor in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies, authored “Minor Troubles: Racial Figurations of Youth Sexuality and Childhood’s Queerness” (Ohio State University Press). The book investigates a series of controversies about youth sexuality and queerness from the early 21st century: adult concerns about teen sexting, the bullying and suicides of queer kids, trans youths’ access to gender-segregated bathrooms at school and sex education.

Faculty Creative Scholarship

Dusty Herbig, associate professor of studio arts in the School of Art, was invited to exhibit his work in the Atlanta Print Biennial June 13-July 11, 2025, sponsored by the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, at Kai Lin Arts. Juried by Todd Anderson of Clemson University, the biennial features 54 works selected from more than 800+ entries. Herbig was also invited to be a Print+New Media Artist in Residence at Alfred University’s Institute for Electronic Arts beginning in July.
