February 1 for all programs. December 15 is the early decision deadline for Art Therapy.

Applicants that apply by the deadline are eligible for competitive merit-based scholarships, fellowships and assistantships. These awards are offered once admission decisions have been sent. There is not a separate application for award consideration.

Financial aid opportunities

Tuition is charged per credit; the (2024-2025) tuition rate is at $1,945 per credit. The Cost of Attendance is an estimate of what it will cost for a graduate student to attend Syracuse University for an academic year. Please email VPA Graduate Admissions at admissg@syr.edu for an estimated cost based on your program of interest.

Unofficial transcripts are accepted for application review. Official transcripts are required if an applicant is admitted and matriculates. It is required to provide enrollment management with an official transcript showing certification of a bachelor’s degree by the end of the first semester of graduate study. Students who have submitted a FAFSA and will receive federal financial aid must show degree certification prior to receiving funds (mid-August).

International Students

These questions pertain only to international student applicants.

Yes, but it may delay your admission decision. It’s always recommended to upload as soon as you are able.

Applicants may be exempt from the English Proficiency requirements if they have completed a bachelor’s degree earned from an accredited U.S. institution. If you are requesting an English Proficiency waiver for any other reason, please contact admissg@syr.edu.

Yes, if the applicant is admissible except for language skills, the department can elect to admit them conditionally to the English Language Institute or until their scores reach an admissible level.

This can be submitted during the application process or after program admission.

As an international student at Syracuse University, you will need your transcript evaluated by an education service, such as the World Education Services (WES), to be sure you meet our requirements and have an equivalent four-year degree.

All students must hold, or be in the process of receiving, a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. or its equivalent. To consider a three-year degree, a WES evaluation stating its equivalency or an additional year of study of a post-graduate diploma or similar will be required.

Yes, admitted students can defer their admission up to one calendar year, however any financial awards are subject to change.

To accept your admission, please complete the Intent to Register form email from gradadm@syr.edu and submit to graduateitr@syr.edu. To accept any financial awards, please sign and email the letter back to admissg@syr.edu.

A $500 non-refundable tuition deposit is required for all VPA students entering a master’s program. Upon matriculation, you’ll be able to submit your deposit within your admitted portal and it will be credited to your student account.

Please decline your admission by submitting your Intent to Register Form to graduateitr@syr.edu.
