Grace M. Barsamian
Class of 2028
School of Design
Design Studies (Major)
Anthropology (Minor)
My name is Grace Barsamian, and I’m a junior in the design studies program with a minor in anthropology. I’m from Laguna Beach, California, and I am so excited to be a 2026-27 VPA Student Ambassador.
I chose design in VPA for its incredible creative spaces, resources and networking opportunities. The Nancy Cantor Warehouse has become one of my favorite places on campus, because it gives design students a space to work, experiment and connect with other designers across different fields. Having that safe space to truly discover myself as a designer means so much to me.
Outside of the classroom, I’m a VPA Peer Advisor and have assisted in Syracuse’s move-in (Goon Squad), both of which have allowed me to support and connect with fellow students. Some of my favorite campus experiences have also been attending events like Industry Day, where I’ve had the opportunity to meet professionals and learn more about different career paths within design. These experiences also gave me those incredible networking opportunities you can only find at Syracuse.
Coming to Syracuse from California was a big change, but it gave me the opportunity to experience the classic college environment I had always hoped for. From campus traditions and sports games to building models, endless sketches, and conducting deep research, plus the community I’ve built, Syracuse has truly become a place where I feel at home. This year, I’m especially excited to study abroad in London through the Design Center and see how the experience shapes my perspective as a designer.
