Biography

Kevin O’Connor has been a Syracuse Stage employee since 2009, starting as a sound apprentice. He is now the assistant audio engineer for Stage and has been a sound designer for the Department of Drama since 2013.

O’Connor started in audio engineering while attending St. Lawrence University, graduating in 2008 with a degree in music. His main focus was ethnomusicology, but he also performed in the Motown Ensemble, playing bass guitar. He never thought he would become a teacher but is now an instructor for the Department of Drama.

Some of his favorite credits as sound designer include “Guys and Dolls” (2023), “Dance Nation” (2023), “Bright Half Life” (2021), “In Love And Warcraft” (2021), “The Baltimore Waltz” (2018), “Miss Electricity” (2018), “Laura and the Sea” (2016), “Measure for Measure” (2015), and “Stepping Out” (2014).
